Online Russian Manicure Course
Russian Manicure Course: Perfect Cuticles, Professional Precision
Master the dry, e-file cuticle technique behind clean, long-lasting, salon-quality manicures — fully online, self-paced, and mentored one-on-one by working professionals.
The Technique
What is a Russian manicure?
A Russian manicure — also called a dry manicure — is a water-free technique that uses an electric file (e-file) to gently clean and lift the cuticle and the surrounding skin, instead of soaking the hand and cutting the cuticle with nippers the way a classic wet manicure does. That precise, close work exposes more of the natural nail, so the finished manicure looks longer, neater, and more defined. Because the cuticle area is left so clean, gel polish bonds better and typically lasts two to three weeks or more without lifting — noticeably longer than a standard manicure. A full Russian manicure usually takes around an hour or more and is performed entirely dry, which also makes it gentler on the skin around the nail. Because it demands careful, controlled e-file work, it is a technique nail technicians train for specifically.

Certification
Do you get certified in Russian manicure?
There isn’t a single national Russian manicure certification or licensing body — it’s a specialty technique, not a regulated credential. What you earn here is the Sublime Professional diploma: a digital and printable certificate showing salons and clients you’ve completed full training in the technique. It strengthens your résumé and portfolio.
To be completely honest: Russian manicure is a specialty technique, not a separately state-licensed credential, and Sublime is a private academy — this diploma is not a state license. If you plan to work on paying clients, most US states and Canadian provinces require a nail technician (manicurist) license from your state or provincial board. This course teaches you the skill; your state sets the licensing rules. See our state-by-state nail technician license guide for exactly what your state requires.
